CRICKET CLUB B stay top of the Aberconwy Snooker League after a 5-1 victory over Llandudno Cons A.
The league leaders went 4-0 up in the match, with Phil Hughes rescuing a point for the Cons with a great long pot on the final pink.
Legion B took their home tie with Crosville A 4-2, with Glynn Nields and Tim Williams among the winning side’s big hitters, whilst Legion A picked up a win by the same scoreline at Crosville B, with Elwyn Owen, Gary Jones and Nigel Breese all helping secure the victory.
Elsewhere, Alan Davidson continued his fine form to help Llandudno Cons B to a 5-1 result over Cricket Club A.
League leaders Semaphore Lodge kept up the pressure on their rivals with a 9-3 win over The Estuary in Division One of the Colwyn Bay Royal British Legion sponsored Gwalia Winter Darts League.
The Marine Hotel took a 5-3 lead at home against the Mochdre Sports Club, who won the first doubles game, but lost the following three doubles to give the Marine an 8-4 result.
The Sun Inn lost all eight singles and three doubles games as the Colwyn Bay Legion A won this match by 11-1. The Park Hotel A found themselves 5-3 behind at home against the Victoria Club C. The teams shared the doubles games to give the Victoria a 7-5 win.
In Division Two the second division league leaders are the Central Hotel who visited the Colwyn Bay Royal British Legion to play against the Legion B. The Central took 5-3 lead,helped by a fourteen dart game from Graham Williams, and won the first doubles games for a 6-3 lead.
The Legion B fought back to win three doubles games and earn a point in this 6-6 draw.The Royal Hotel C were level at 4-4 at home against the Anglers Sea Club.The Royal C won three doubles games and the match by 7-5.
Seven man Ship Hotel Rhos B were 5-3 behind at home against Wetherspoons, who won three doubles games for an 8-4 result. The Valentine at home againstthe Royal Hotel, won this match by 7-5.
Chester Men’s 3rds 2 Llandudno Men 0
Llandudno were beaten by a penalty stroke either side of half time against a strong Chester side in a well-contested match.
Playing after a four week break due to Christmas and the snow, Llandudno carved out a clutch of half-chances early on, before the hosts began creating openings of their own.
A strike that had been appearing to go wide struck the chest of Tudno player Matt Roddy, allowing Chester to take the lead with a penalty.
A second penalty stroke was awarded after the break, with Llandudno keeper Andy Davies unluckly not to keep the ball out, with the ball sneaking into the corner despite his efforts to save.
Martin Williams saw a late effort come back of the post after lobbing the ‘keeper but Llandudno can be proud of their showing against a team that has won nine out of their ten matches.
With no let-up in the early stages of the season, Llandudno travel to league leaders Oxton this Saturday.
LLANDUDNO RUGBY Club Under 13s recorded a narrow 19-17 victory over their Wrexham rivals.
Tudno enjoyed a comfortable victory earlier in the season, but were pushed all the way in their latest encounter, going 10-0 down in a tough opening.
Some fine rugby from Iwan Kyffin, Sam Williams, Sam Merrick and Aled Webb contributed to the fight back, with Morgan Owen, Byron Davies and Sam Hughes Llandudno tries came from Morgan Owen, Byron Davies and Sam Hughes scoring the tries, with Iwan Kyffin adding two conversions.
Players of the match were awarded to Sam Hughes for his all round display and Sam Merrick for his brave defending.
The Under 11s, meanwhile, were less fortunate, going down 50-21 to Wrexham in a high-scoring tie.
Despite Wrexham going four tries up early on, tough tackling from Patrick Brazier and Jordan Kilpatrick, as well as some strong running from Owen Payne, helped Llandudno back into the match.
Tries from Jordan Kilpatrick and Rhys Henderson (2), who converted all three, netted the points for Llandudno, who had Owen Payne as their man of the match.
