Bend the ear of your MP and AM - WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Not only is it a key outlet for Post Office Ltd's services, but it provides a meeting place for villagers where they can exchange news and views, and spend a pleasant few minutes, complete with cuppa if desired, in the company of its dedicated postmistress Mavis Ledsham who has been running the business there for a decade.
But now that post office, along with dozens of others across North Wales, is threatened with closure Post Office Ltd on Tuesday began a consultation on the proposed closure of 52 branches in the North Wales area.
This will leave in place 271 post office branches, including the establishment of 14 new Outreach service points serving the area.
Because of rising financial losses and falling customer numbers, in May 2007, the Government decided Post Office Ltd should close up to 2,500 branches in the UK.
These closures will take place up to the end of 2008. Additionally, 500 replacement 'outreach' services, such as mobile post offices, will be opened.
Now is the time, therefore, for people who care about the future of their communities, to rally round and support their local branch of the Post Office.
We urge customers to engage in the consultation process by finding out more about the proposals and giving feedback to Post Office Ltd.
It's imperative, if we care about our already depleted, rural communities, that views are heard not only by the Post Office but by the Government.
Bend the ear of your MP and AM.
And why leave it there?
The Countryside Alliance in Wales is urging folk to take their protest to the top by writing to the already beleaguered Gordon Brown.
His full address is 10 Downing Street, London, SW1A 2AA.
After all, he's so unpopular, even among his own kind, at the moment, that he should agree to just about anything that raises his stock in the eyes of the electorate.
It's time for the Government to look at the big picture in this case.
Financial viability cannot be the only criterion that decides whether or not a post office is closed.
For without the likes of Mavis and her post office, many villagers, particularly the elderly, will become even more isolated.
