WHAT is a Francophile? a) a metal-working tool; b) a dossier on the late Spanish dictator; c) anyone who likes France.
Yes, that's an easy one!

And there are lots of people in Ruthin who fall into the third category.

2008 is the 15th anniversary of the twinning of Ruthin and Briec-de-l'Odet in Brittany and the partnership is going from strength to strength.

Every year a party from Ruthin goes to stay with host families in Briec or vice-versa.

Last year the group from Ruthin went there, and were warmly welcomed.
"There's nothing exclusive about our twinning activities," said Tony Lyne, association's accommodation officer.

"Over the years several hundred people have participated in these exchanges and many enduring friendships have grown out of them.

"The Ruthin Twinning Association is keen to welcome anyone who considers themselves a Francophile and wants to get involved," he added.

This year, from Wednesday, May 7 to Sunday May 11, some 50 Briecois will be visiting.

If you would like to host one or more visitors and participate in the programme of events, please ring Tony Lyne on 01824 704269.
