Contractors count cost of fuel rises

MAY finally saw winter turn into summer and hopefully the last of the cold winds.

Fuel prices are a cause of concern with red diesel having trebled in price over recent years. Farmers who are heavily dependent on contractors to carry out work on the farm will see price increases with many contractors unable to give a quote as prices continue to rise.

Some contractors are even considering packing up their businesses.
On the farm work front ewes have been dagged and dosed and when the lambs are around six weeks old, they will be ready for a dose against worms.
