DENBIGH will host a rags-to-riches tale this weekend.

Opera fans from all over the country are invited to attend a special evening hosted by the Denbigh Film Club on August 9.

The film version of Rossini Glyndebourne's Cinderella at Theatre Bach in Gwaenynog Hall, near Denbigh, will be showing with opera lovers able to enjoy the performance in the beautiful surroundings of the historic hall.

Denbigh Film Club recently reached the semi-finals of The National Lottery Awards 2008.

The Awards recognise and celebrate these projects and the people behind them who give their time and expertise to help their local community.

Lottery funding contributed towards a portable projector and an electronic screen, which has enabled the film club to travel to neighbouring villages, showing films in local setting.

As a result, the people of Denbigh are benefiting from something completely new and they now have access to cultural experiences that were not previously available.

Denbigh Film Club's Vesi Jones said: "The event at Gwaenynog Hall is very exciting for film and opera lovers everywhere as it is the first time this performance has been shown here – Denbigh Film Club is really proud to be able to let our members enjoy this unique performance in such a stunning setting."

Tickets cost £10 and include a glass of wine.

The club is encouraging everyone to bring their own picnic along to the event. For tickets and further information, call 01745 813426.
