IT may have taken 11 years but a Llanelidan flower breeder has finally produced the first ever yellow streptocarpus.

Lynne Dibley, who owns Dibleys Nurseries near Ruthin, spent years of natural breeding and selection to produce the flower and has finally made the breakthrough.

"The new variety will be exhibited for the first time at this year's Chelsea Flower Show," said Lynne.

"It took eight or nine different generations and continuous breeding and lots of crosses until I finally had four or five to choose from.

"I'm immensely pleased that I've finally managed to do it, especially as it's taken so many years."

This new variety is available as a plug plant from the nursery now and Lynne says it's already become a best seller.

Lynne decided to name the yellow flower after her niece Alissa.
