The library will now close on Thursday afternoons, starting in October, as part of the council's cost savings me
asures.

In February, proposals were made for a reduction in opening hours in all libraries across the county as part of budget cuts for the current financial year.

But this was delayed due to a one-off LABGI grant which gave the authority time to look into all options.

A working group has now reported that a reduction in opening hours at three libraries - St Asaph, Rhuddlan and Rhyl - is the preferred option and this has been formally agreed by members of Denbighshire's cabinet.

"The library service, like all other departments, was asked to identify efficiency savings and the proposal put forward has now been agreed," said Cllr Morfudd Jones, cabinet lead member with responsibility for libraries.
