Take note of new pedestrian signs
PEDESTRIANS in Llangollen are being lead to the Royal International Pavilion by brass musical notes.
The new signs have been installed into the footpath linking the pavilion and Llangollen Town centre in a project funded through EU Objective 1 DESSERT money and managed by the Rural Business Action team (part of Denbighshire County Council's Business Support).
The aim of the markings is to promote the use of the pavilion and car parking facilities for those visiting the town by following the notes in the footpath and those attending event at the pavilion to visit the town.
A decorative archway over the pedestrian entrance to the pavilion on Abbey Road will also be installed as part of this project.
The signage was produced and installed by The Sign Shop in Denbighshire County Council and funding was secured by Llangollen Partnership with support from Llangollen Town Council, the Royal International Pavilion and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Llangollen Enterprise and local council members.
A spokeswoman from the county council said: "The project seeks to encourage activity with the towns of Denbighshire during traditionally quiet times such as early evenings and during the winter months.
"The footpath from the pavilion site to the town centre is under-utilised and the town would greatly benefit by increased footfall throughout the year. Particularly during the week of the Llangollen International Eisteddfod which attracts between 2,000 and 5,000 competitors and as many as 50,000 visitors by way marking the route to the town centre."
