A LLANSANNAN-born singer is set to go head to head with 11 other finalists in Andrew Lloyd Webber's I'd Do Anything talent show.

Tara Bethan, 24, who attended Ysgol Bro Aled in Llansannan and Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph before attending Redroofs Theatre School, will star in the BBC's new show that seeks to find a new Nancy in a revival of the musical Oliver!

Tara, who starred in the Welsh language soap Rownd a Rownd for nine months, is daughter of legendary ex-pro wrestler El Bandito - aka Orig Williams.

This is not the first time she has ventured into singing as she achieved early success in the Eisteddfod and last year she released her first Welsh language CD entitled Does Neb yn fy adnabod i.

Tara hopes to follow in fellow Welsh girl Connie Fisher's success, who went on to star as Maria in The Sound of Music after starring in a similar show. Tara will face the first public vote on Saturday.
