GREEN-FINGERED youngsters across the Vale of Clwyd have been helping to turn their schools and local communities into wildlife havens a survey carried out by Vale of Clwyd MP Chris Ruane has revealed.

Mr Ruane wrote to all schools within the constituency asking for details of environmental projects carried out by the pupils and has been very pleased with what he found out.

"There is so much good environmental work going out in our communities," said Mr Ruane.

"Many schools now have set up eco-councils or groups and these have been responsible for improving recycling rates, putting up bird boxes, tree planting and developing school gardens."
