A third inspirational ambassador is pledging support for Team Wales as the countdown to next month’s Commonwealth Games continues.

Ocean adventurer, epic fundraiser and child health advocate Dr Elin Haf Davies, who is originally from Parc near Bala, is joining Becky James and Christian Malcolm as an official ambassador for Team Wales at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

The ambassadors’ role is to inspire Team Wales athletes and supporters, share their extraordinary sporting and life experiences with the 318 team members, and proudly fly the flag for Wales during the build up and excitement of the Games.

Elin became the first Welsh woman to row the Atlantic in 2008, and part of the first all-female crew to row the Indian Ocean, before conquering the Pacific when she set sail in 2012. An instinctive adventurer, she has real life knowledge of what it takes to perform and achieve to the highest level, and to face challenges positively and head on.

Passionate Welsh woman Elin said: “I’m hugely honoured to be an Ambassador for Team Wales. I have such respect and admiration for all the athletes that have been selected to represent Wales.

“My adventures and challenges over the years have taken me all over the world and I now know what an unique opportunity it is to use sport as a platform to raise awareness of our great nation.

“I'm absolutely sure that each and every one of our athletes will do us all very proud.

“I’ll certainly be cheering them all along, very loudly, and telling the rest of the world about each and every one of your successes.”

The Commonwealth Games begin on April 4 in Gold Coast, Australia and finish on April 15.
