SHOPPERS in Bala can look forward to a new consumer experience as Co-op reopens following a £625,000 investment.
The store, located on Stryd Fawr, Bala, reopened on Friday, April 27 with the appearance of Bala-born Wales international rugby player Teleri Davies.
The store has been refurbished with up-to-date facilities, including larger chillers allowing a greater range of fresh food, an extra isle, a new false ceiling, new decoration, a Costa coffee machine, ATM and self-check-out systems.
Roy Evans, manager at Co-op, said: “Our new chillers will offer a greater range of fresh food, while our new self-check-out systems mean people have the choice between face-to-face and self-check-out.
Mr Evans said: “We’re hoping to enhance our offer to the Bala community and give customers a new shopping experience with the recent improvements.”
Carl Pattersson, area manager for the Co-op, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to carry out such a significant investment in Bala to better serve the community, we are really looking forward to welcoming members and customers back into their new-look Co-op.
“We are proud to be part of the community, and are committed to ensuring our store is a local hub, making a positive contribution to local life and supporting local groups."
The store donates 1 per cent of spending by those enrolled in its membership scheme to causes in Bala, including the bowling and football clubs.
Mr Pattersson said: “Our ambition is for our stores to be at the heart of local life, bringing communities together and offering great quality products when and where shoppers need them.”
