The proposed new owner for a Crown Post Office has pledged to invest up to £50,000 in improving the current location and it’s services when the purchase goes ahead.

Huw Hilditch-Roberts, county councillor for Ruthin owns I’r Dim Ltd which runs Ruthin’s Post Office and says they will be able to offer more than the current Crown Post Office on Denbigh’s High Street does without closing down or moving location.

Cllr Hilditch-Roberts said: “Denbigh Post Office has been saved. There’ll be a £50,000 investment going into it and it’ll be open more hours.

“There’ll be the same level of service as the main Post Office in Denbigh at the moment, and the decision has been taken to invest in it so we can keep the Post Office in Denbigh like we have done for Ruthin.

“The message is clear. We’ll be open longer, a good service as we already do in Ruthin

“Once the current consultation ends there’ll just be a short closure for the refurbishment to take place.”

The consultation on the proposed changes runs until July 5 with the change in ownership coming in October.

The consultation document from the Post Office reads: “We’re now starting a period of local public consultation and over the coming weeks we’d like you tell us what you think about the proposal.

“Although the decision to change the way we operate the branch, so it is run by I’r Dim Ltd, is not a matter for public consultation, before we finalise our plans, we would welcome any feedback or general comments you may have about the proposal but would particularly appreciate your views on the following areas:

“Do you have any comments about the proposed change?

“Are there any other local community issues specific to Denbigh which you believe could be affected by or affect the proposed change?”
