A DEE Valley team is continuing to expand.

Rhug Estate has announced that its team in Corwen will be expanding, thanks to Amy Coleman being promoted to the new position of assistant general manager of Rhug Ltd.

Twenty five year-old Amy, from Bryneglwys, joined the Rhug Estate in 2014 as a waitress, working part-time during weekends and holidays, while studying for her business management degree at Liverpool University.

After qualifying from university, Amy started full time at Rhug in the accounts department.

In 2015, she was promoted to accounts manager and as part of that role, she has been assisting Graham Webster with managing the Rhug bistro, take-away and shop.

Rhug owner Lord Newborough said: “Amy’s promotion to assistant general manager of Rhug Ltd has been well earned through a proven track record.

"She has excelled in everything she has turned her hand to in a number of diverse roles and I am confident that she will greatly strengthen the team by her in-depth knowledge of various aspects of the business.”

Lord Newborough currently employs 115 at the Rhug Estate, with over 90 per cent of the staff living within 10 miles of the estate.

When Lord Newborough took over the estate in 1998, there were just nine employees.

Amy said: “Having worked with Lord Newborough and the team at Rhug Estate Ltd for the past four years, I feel like I’m part of one big Rhug family.

"I am grateful for this opportunity to assist the general manager Graham Webster.

"There are a number of exciting developments in the pipeline for Rhug and we look forward to welcoming visitors from near and far to the farm shop, take-away and bistro.”

Lord Newborough added: “The staff at the Rhug really do feel like an extension of my family and I always try to employ locally.

"We have many families that work at Rhug and Amy’s is no exception, with her 17-year-old sister currently working in the Bistro on weekends and (she) will soon be starting work experience on the farm during her school holidays.”

At the heart of Rhug is Lord Newborough’s commitment to an organic lifestyle.

Rhug Farm is self-contained and a true ‘field to plate’ operation applying the highest standard of sustainability.

Using the most sustainable farming practices, Rhug prides itself on superior tasting meat products, including organic beef, lamb, pork, bison, chicken, turkey, goose, and game when in season.

Rhug Farm Shop stocks almost 3,000 products from local suppliers and small businesses.

The Bison Grill is located next to the farm shop and creates dishes that are made with seasonal produce using Rhug's own products where possible.

Rhug also has the ‘On The Hoof’ takeaway service.
