A PET lover's small business received a massive boost after former 'dragon' Theo Paphitis gave it his backing.

Angela Platt - best known as Angie - launched Life with Pets magazine in 2013.

The editor, who lives in Ruthin and also works at Denbighshire County Council, tweeted the retail entrepreneur on Small Business Sunday - shortened to #SBS on Twitter - and was amazed when she was picked as one of six winners and gained a retweet to his 500,000 followers.

The initiative of #SBS was created by Theo in October 2010. Each week, Theo, best known for appearing on Dragons' Den, rewards his favourite lucky six by retweeting them.

Angie, 29 who is originally from Colwyn Bay, has also been presented with a digital graphic of her award and her business will be listed on the #SBS website.

She said: "I'm so excited to have won this award. I still can't believe the magazine was shared with Theo's half a million Twitter followers and to have my business listed on the #SBS website is something I feel very excited about.

"I'm already noticing a boost to our social media profiles and previous winners of the award have been in touch already.

"When I found our I had won, I was so shocked. I looked down at my phone and thought it had broke as I had so many Twitter notifications."

Life With Pets Magazine is a lifestyle printed magazine for animal lovers.

Angie, who has two guinea pigs, two fish and a hamster, added: "Since the launch, I've had amazing support from the pet community, including retweets from Ricky Gervais and I've won a wow - Women in work - award from Jacqueline Gold.

"I run the magazine myself, with the help of a few freelancers and animal health experts. I couldn't do all of this without the support of my amazing husband Edd, and the guinea pigs too of course.

"Within the first year, the magazine was in every Pets At Home and in Dobbies Garden Centres across the UK.

"Pets may be small but they take a huge part of your heart. We have a 'Rainbow Bridge' section of the magazine that shares tributes - it's great to have a community that understands each other and supports one another."
