IT'S been child's play for an award winner!

Corwen Day Nursery has announced that Cheryl Bodden was the winner of the 2017 employee of the year award.

The Dee Valley nursery introduced an employee of the month award just over 12 months ago as part of its staff well-being programme.

All members of staff have the opportunity to receive an extra £25 in their pay if they are awarded employee of the month, with employee of the year being an extension of this.

Nursery colleagues or parents nominate staff if they think that they have gone above and beyond what was expected of them.

Award winner Cheryl said: “I am so honoured and overwhelmed to have been chosen as employee of the year.

"I have worked at Corwen Day Nursery for over 13 years and I am very proud of what I have achieved.

"It’s lovely that (proprietor) Carmen (Roberts Davenport) and the team recognise that I am very passionate and do my utmost to ensure that the babies in my care receive the highest level of care each day.

"Thank you for the lovely gift and to everyone who voted for me.”

Last year proved to be a hugely successful one for Corwen Day Nursery, which was a runner-up in the Welsh nursery of the year category at the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) awards.
