An Ysgol Bron Cernyw pupil's dreams came true when she was whisked away for a starring role in Disneyland.

Lena Haf Davies, the 2017 Urdd Esteddfod, the National Winner in the Cerdd Dant solo, earned a spot in the theme park's annual St David's Welsh Festival celebrations in Paris.

Miss Davies said: "It was a wonderful experience performing Cerdd Dant on such a massive stage. We then all sang together as a choir before going to the Micky Hotel for free drinks then we watched the St David’s Day fireworks display from the VIP area."

The 10 year old joined four other Bridgend Taff-Ely Eisteddfod winners from Cardiff, Barry and Anglesey to perform at the show , now in its ninth year, from Friday, March 9 until Sunday 11 before returning to school on Monday.

The young performer gave a solo performance of her winning rendition of the Welsh language song Planedau - about the planets - and also performed in a Welsh choir ensemble.

Peter Welch, VP Commercial from Disney Destinations International, said, “We’re proud to welcome Urdd winners at the Saint David’s Welsh Weekend at Disneyland Paris to perform again this year.

As a proud Welshman myself, the Welsh Weekend is something we are extremely proud of as an opportunity to showcase Welsh culture to our international guests, and we’re also proud to continue our work with the Urdd to include young performers of the highest calibre in our Welsh concerts. Plus, with special St David’s Day fireworks over Sleeping Beauty Castle, it’s truly a great weekend to visit Disneyland Paris.”
