WHILE the Beast from the East and Storm Emma caused havoc for many in rural Denbighshire at the beginning of the month, it was business as usual at Corwen Day Nursery.

The heavy snow and bitter winds didn’t stop the children from having a fantastic time playing and mark making in the snow.

Parents who use Corwen Day Nursery were grateful to the nursery for remaining open whilst the schools in the area closed.

Carmen Roberts Davenport, who employs just over 10 people at the nursery, said: “I am fortunate that the majority of my staff live close by and are able to walk to work if necessary and we appreciate that many of our parents rely on us and need us to be open whilst they continue to work.”

One of the parents Dani Hayes said: “Good on you for opening today.

"The girls love coming to nursery and that’s why we have still sent them in on a snow day.”

All of the children were fascinated by the snow, which was taken indoors for them to play with, as well as being able to play in it outdoors.

We all know the benefits of playing outside in the fresh air, but the snow offers many creative opportunities and sensory experiences for children, as well as supporting children’s gross motor development.

Anybody in need of child care can contact the nursery on 01490 412231 to arrange a show around and meet the bilingual team, who are committed to delivery high quality childcare.
