CORWEN Day Nursery has a regular calendar of events for children aged from three to 12 on each of the holidays and Easter was no exception.

This year, an average of 20 children took part in lots of activities, ranging from forest walks to spending time at the beach with children from another nursery.

Corwen Day Nursery, which makes regular visits to the residential care home Cysgod Y Gaer, has also been working closely with Canolfan Ni for a number of months and the staff and children visit their weekly Cawl a Chân” sessions, as they did on the Tuesday afternoon, April 27.

Sally Lloyd Davies, from Canolfan Ni, said: “This was a heartwarming inter-generational activity between Corwen Day Nursery and the weekly social lunch club.”

Footage of this event will be shown on S4C programme Prynhawn Da with Heulwen Haf.

Another popular activity was a second grandparents morning, fuelled with tea and cakes, following on from the success of the first one held in February.

The children took joy in helping and performing for their grandparents, who were able to experience some of the activities that the children partake in whilst at nursery.

One grandparent took the trouble to travel all the way from Chester via two modes of public transport.

All of the children enjoyed the Easter art and craft competition, as well as the Easter egg hunt that took place on the Friday before the Easter weekend.

The second week of the holidays began with a farm tour of Rhug and an insight into how the burgers are made.

One of the children on the trip said: “Going on the tractor was the best bit and seeing the bison in the field.”

Children were excited to visit the woods again for a forest school experience and they were joined by one of the parents, who is an instructor at the Wild Bushcraft Company.

Jamie Corry, from the Wild Bushcraft Company, said: “I had a great day with the older children from Corwen Day Nursery when we went to the woods on a typical April day of sunshine and showers.

"The children were amazing and the weather just made it more of an adventure.”

Corwen Day Nursery shares good practice with many other nurseries and Little Lambs Day Nursery, in Kinmel Bay, has spent time at the nursery in Corwen on many occasions, with good friendships being formed between both the children and the staff.

They all had a fantastic day together on the beach near Kinmel Bay, followed by a hot chocolate and snack back at Little Lambs Day Nursery.

Other activities that took place included a visit from pet lambs, a walk by the River Dee, lots of time spent at the park adjacent to the nursery, sporting activities and gardening.
