Three young men have denied dangerous driving on North Wales roads through moorland known as the so-called "Evo Triangle".

It is alleged that the driving on the A543 and the B5401 roads skirting Denbighshire and Conwy was captured on footage and placed on YouTube.

The joint dangerous charge alleges that two BMWs and a Kia car were involved on June 17 last year.

Not guilty pleas were on Friday entered by Lewis Gething, aged 22, of Llandore Close, Connah’s Quay, Jak (correct) Kitchener, 21, of Windermere Drive, Rishton, Blackburn, Lancashire and Alexander Smith, 21, of Llanforda Mead, Oswestry, Shropshire.

Judge Rhys Rowlands rebailed all three pending a trial on August 8.

Legal arguments will take place before then – in June – amid defence claims that the charge was out of time and “statute barred”.

That is not accepted by the prosecution and a judge will have to rule on the issue.
