DENBIGH murderer Jason Cooper, 26, must serve a minimum of 31 years for the brutal stabbing of his former partner Laura Stuart.

Mr Justice Simon Picken, who told him that he and he alone was responsible for her death, passed a mandatory life sentence on him at Mold Crown Court today (Tues) and ruled that he would have to serve 31 years before being considered for parole.

Two weeks ago a jury took less than an hour to unanimously find him guilty of her murder and wounding with intent David Roberts, a man who went to her aid.

He received a 12 year concurrent sentence for wounding Mr Roberts with intent.

The court heard how Cooper had become obsessed with Laura, 33, a mother of two, and lay in wait for her as she walked from a pub in the town centre early one morning last August.
