Police are searching for the owner of a dog which attacked and injured two lambs in a field near Dyerth.

Along with an apology for the distressing nature of the pictures on their Facebook site, the Prestatyn Safer Neighbourhood Team say they were called to the field next to the A547 following reports that a dog was attacking lambs.

Sgt Jones and PCSO Bennett, with the grateful help of others, managed to catch the two badly injured lambs and take them, in the police van, straight over to Pritchards Veterinary Centre, Denbigh, for urgent treatment.

The lambs have received care and hopefully they will make a full recovery.

The dog responsible is described a black lurcher/whippet type dog with a burgundy/blue coloured coat. The owner was not with the dog.

Police say they need help in locating the dog and its owner as an investigation has now commenced.

They add that this is also a timely reminder to all dog owners how important it is to keep your animals under control when around livestock.

If you have any information in relation to this incident call North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference 18300042652.
