Mudiad Meithrin welcomes the famous pirate Ben Dant on board to launch a new show for the children of Wales.

More than 220 young children will watch the versatile performer Aeron Pughe portray Ben Dant at the Town Hall, Denbigh at 10.30am and 1pm.

The Ffrindiau’r Môr (Friends of the Sea) show includes children’s favourite sea-themed songs, performed in venues all over Wales during June as part of Mudiad Meithrin’s Dewin and Doti festival.

Ben Dant, who is a well-established popular character amongst younger viewers on CYW, estimates he will shout Ahoy! to about 8,000 children and parents as he sets sail for more than 12 different locations across Wales between June 11-28.

Ben Dant will sing 12 familiar songs that are the favourites of children who attend Cylchoedd Meithrin. The show also includes Mudiad Meithrin’s own anthem Un Teulu Mawr (One Big Family) in the company of Dewin and Doti, who are Mudiad Meithrin's unique characters who are friends to all children in Wales, helping and encouraging them to speak Welsh.

Ben Dant said: “Ahoy friends! I’m looking forward to setting sail with Dewin and Doti on our great adventure. What could be better than to entertain the children of Wales for three whole weeks this summer.”

The show is appropriate for children who attend Cymraeg for Kids groups, Cylchoedd Ti a Fi, Cylchoedd Meithrin, and Mudiad Meithrin’s Day Nurseries. The tour is organised by Mudiad Meithrin with the support and sponsorship of S4C as its CYW service for younger viewers celebrates 10 years on air.

A CD of all the songs has been sent out to all of Mudiad Meithrin’s members – Cymraeg for Kids groups, Cylchoedd Ti a Fi, Cylchoedd Meithrin and day nurseries, so that they will be familiar with all the songs before attending the shows.
