A SIX-year-old from Denbigh is preparing for a 13-mile bike ride to raise money for children around the world that are stuck in poverty.

Noah Parry, aged 6, had decided to take on the mission after seeing that children in developing countries were in poverty during an advert on television

Angharad Parry, Noah’s mother, will be in attendance with Noah’s father, Simon, as well as his cousins and grandparents who will be supporting from the side-lines. Mrs Parry said: “Last year, Noah saw the disaster adverts on television and he got quite upset – he is sensitive and wanted to help and held a sponsored walk that raised £2,500 for Save the Children that was sponsored by Denbigh Rotary Club and the Denbigh Women’s Institute.

“A few months ago, Noah saw another advert and asked me, ‘why are they still hungry?’. He is now hoping to raise money again to provide the children with food and medicine.”

All money raised by Noah's effort will be donated to Save the Children, an international charity that provides education, health care and economic opportunities to children in developing countries.

Noah, whose farthest bike ride to date is five miles, has received support from family, friends as well as words of support from Mark Young, councillor for Denbigh Lower, that will give the youngster added encouragement to cross the line.

Mrs Parry continued: “The distance will certainly be a shock to the system for Noah!

“The people of Denbigh are great at getting behind community causes and hopefully they will get behind Noah’s effort and give him an extra push.”

Noah’s fundraiser will take place on Saturday, June 16, starting at the Nova in Prestatyn and finishing in Porth Eirias, Colwyn Bay.
