CHILDREN were given a special look inside Bala's brand new library with a special visit from a careful cat and adventures under the sea.
The recently reopened Bro Tegid, library at Ysgol y Berwyn secondary school, welcomed schoolchildren for a series of special events, over tow days, for ages six months to seven years old to show off its revamped children's section.
Librarian Haf Hughes said: "It was a fantastic chance for the children to come that we are up and running, to see the new library and have some fun with our new facilities."
The first session in the series was Camau Cerdd - Music Steps - on Monday, March 26, held in collaboration between the William Mathias Music Center and the musician Marie-Claire Howorth, giving youngsters the opportunity to try out musical instruments.
Two Camau Cerdd tutors, Charlotte Green and Elin Roberts visited Library to lead the children to create music with the theme "under the sea", with the first session for babies and young children up to three years old, followed by the second session for children up to seven year olds.
Everyone had fun experimenting with the sounds and movements of the elements of the sea; bubbles, waves, shells, crab, fish, and octopus!
The following day, 26 children at the library welcomed Carys Ofalus for a story session telling the tale of character of the careful cat, to target pre-school children and encourage them to be safe on the roads whilst also allowing them to have a photograph.
In the session the children also met PCSO, Lona Davenport and some of the children were given the opportunity to dress as people who help us, for example, a paramedic, police and a fire service member.
