A young football fan from Llandrillo has had his dream come true, after two years of waiting.

Lifelong Tottenham Hotspur fan Ilan Roberts, a pupil of Ysgol Bro Dyfrdwy in Cynwyd, was selected as a mascot for the team’s 5-1 victory against Stoke City at Wembley Stadium after waiting since he was seven years old.

Arfon Roberts, Ilan’s father, said: “I’m a Spurs fan, and Ilan has always supported them too, but his older sisters support Chelsea and Liverpool.. We’re both club members so when he joined I put him on the mascot list two years ago."

Ilan, who turns 10 at the end of the month, is a keen football player for for Corwen Youth FC under 11s and also with Bala Town FC Academy.

Mr Roberts added: “Being at Wembley was great. as he had never been there before and the score certainly did help. Ilan also met Joe Allen and Ben Davies in the tunnel, and they chatted with him in Welsh as if they were all mates, with everyone looking at them.”

Along with the Welsh internationals, Ilan met the full squad - including his favourite players Harry Kane and Bamidele Jermaine “Dele” Alli - and had his shirt signed by the whole Spurs team.
