Police have "swarmed" Denbigh following an armed bank robbery.

North Wales Police (NWP) are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at the HSBC Bank, on Vale Street in Denbigh which is believed to have involved a concealed weapon and has seen the offender make off with a quantity of cash.

A spokesperson for NWP said: "The male offender entered the bank at around 10.20am today and threatened the staff with what was believed to be a weapon concealed in a bag.

Another eyewitness, who also asked not to be identified, said: "I was driving into Denbigh and a 4x4 BMV police car rushed passed me, i think it may have been an armed response vehicle.

"As I got nearer the bank, I could see the bank doors were shut and the staff were all standing outside speaking to police. There was a patrol car parked on a little side street by the bank."
