The Bishop of St Asaph has lent his voice to the discussion on transgender issues in Cardiff.

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar welcomed the Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron to the Senedd, to take part in a Welsh Assembly cross party group on faith, where he provided the opening address on the topic of 'Transgender Issues: Faith Perspectives'.

Mr Millar said: "I was extremely pleased to welcome Bishop Gregory to the Senedd for this important discussion.

"He played a fundamental role at the meeting and those in attendance, including myself, very much welcomed his input."

The Journal reported in January of the Bishop's forward thinking diocese installing one of the first gender-neutral toilet facilities at a place of Worship in North Wales as part of its £300,000 refurbishment, with the intention of leading the way in promoting inclusivity within the Church.

Following the Wednesday, June 6 meeting Mr Millar added: “It is important to have open and respectful discussions about the range of views held by people of faith on these issues, some of whom have struggled to respond to the changes in society around us.”
