PEOPLE from across the Henllan community gathered over the weekend to celebrate their village and share a fun-filled day for the 17th year running.

This year's events involved a children's area with a Nerf gun battle, water shooting games, a bouncy castle, sumo wrestling, hook a duck, sand arts, stocks and face painting.

The youngest members of the community were also catered for with their very own baby nursing/changing tent.

Centre of attention were the axemen with another electrifying timber sport display, which included a competition to cut through a chunky log the fastest, showcasing their strength, agility and expertise.

The axemen also provided several more displays than planned as the falconry demonstration was unable to attend after falling ill.

The classic car, bike and tractor display also proved to be as impressive as ever (well, since the 60s) while an appearance from the ferrets gave children the opportunity to get close to the furry animals that polarise public opinion.

The Henllan Community and Leisure Association’s annual trolley dash was also a huge success as many non-perishable items were donated.

Angeline Lawson, organiser of the event, said: "We are very happy with how the event went after being told horrific thunderstorms would be taking place.

"All money raised will be reinvested into our community-funded events, which helps to make them bigger and better every time, with the bonfire and firework display up next."
