BUDDING young authors from a school in Ruthin have been successful at a regional writing competition.
Three pupils from Ysgol Brynhyfryd have won a series of certificates at the Ruthin Rotary Club, whose aim is to encourage young people to use their writing skills, imagination and creativity
Matthew Taylor, 13, received a ‘commended’ certificate at intermediate level and also a silver certificate for his entry, while James Eccles, 13, was awarded a bronze certificate for his story Invasion.
Millie Ellis, 13, received a gold certificate for her piece titled That One Christmas Day.
A school spokesman said: “We are so proud of the success of all our pupils and to have three of our students win such prestigious awards is a true testament to our talented students here at Ysgol Brynhyfryd – we are delighted.”
The heats were organised by Ruthin Rotary club who are part of a global network of Rotarians of 1.2 million.
Some of the club’s aims are to support education and grow economies.
Llinos Roberts-Morgan, assistance head of year eight, said: “The Rotary Club are certainly influential and important to the community of Ruthin and Ysgol Brynhyfryd through inclusion in such projects and their continued support.”
