A 21-year-old man has appeared in court today (Monday) accused of attempted murder after another man was left fighting for his life in hospital.

Connor Hooley, of Borthyn, Ruthin, was charged with trying to kill Christopher Lloyd in Clwyd Street, Ruthin, during the early hours of Saturday.

A district judge at Llandudno remanded him in custody to appear before Mold crown court on March 23.

Defence solicitor Craig Hutchinson made no application for bail.

A 21-year-old woman who was arrested by police has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Police said 36-year-old Mr Lloyd remained in a critical condition in hospital and his family were being supported by specially trained officers.
