A crafts centre in Ruthin has opened a new exhibition to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of its new location.

Ruthin Crafts Centre will mark the occasion with an exhibition of the work of Andrew Logan, a diversely accomplished artist who has had a long-standing relationship with the centre, having exhibited a popular display when the centre re-opened at its new location in 2008.

Jane Audas, freelance curator for Ruthin Crafts Centre, said: “Andrew Logan’s work is never what is expected. It is a bit (or a lot) theatre, craft, sculpture, art, fashion, jewellery and performance. It certainly isn’t a quiet, understated pot on a white podium.”

Works include Portrait of Mother, a small bejewelled pink flower; Temple to The Sun, made of 22 carat gold and which took over a year to make; and Rajas Zandra, a life size sculpture of Andrew’s great friend and Fashion designer Zandra Rhodes.

Jane Gerrard, director of Ruthin Crafts Centre, said: “It seemed appropriate to have an exhibition with Andrew Logan on our ten-year anniversary.

“We are anticipating that Andrew’s work will do well in our ‘Crafts Count’ competition, in which the public will nominate their favourite displays of the 140 we have exhibited over the last ten years.

“However, Andrew Logan’s work is only one of four exhibitions in the new display for the centre’s anniversary that all the public are welcomed to see for themselves.”
