ANYONE wondering what to do with their Christmas tree is being invited to recycle it and help a good cause.

St Kentigern Hospice, based in St Asaph, is once again running a tree collection service.

The charity has linked up with businesses and community organisations – including Thorncliffe Building Supplies, Anwyl Construction, Wynne Construction and SP Energy Network, as well as Rotary Clubs and Round Table groups – to collect and recycle the trees.

Last year the scheme was particularly popular; trees were used by councils to reinforce the sand dunes on the North Wales coast to aid the flood defences.

Lindsey Thomas, a member of St Kentigern's hospice team, said: "Residents who want their trees collected can register online.

"Last year, we had such a good response that we don't need any more trees to reinforce the sand dunes.

"A gentleman is going to come and collect the tree this year. They will then be taken away and recycled.

"In exchange for taking the tree away, all we ask is for people to give donation which will go towards supporting St Kentigern."

The collection service is being operated across Denbighshire.

The following postcodes are eligible: LL15, LL16, LL17, LL18, LL19, LL22, LL28, LL29 and CH6, CH8.

Trees will be collected from Friday, January 12 until Sunday, January 14.

Trees must be registered by Wednesday, January 10. Go online at
