AN EYE-catching church has re-opened to parishioners following a huge lighting project.
Bodelwyddan's St Margaret's Church, also known as the Marble Church, was closed for several weeks whilst scaffolding was installed to allow electricians to re-wire and replace the inside ceiling lighting. The work required a cherry picker to reach the bulbs.
The £25,000 project involved the new LED lighting - now installed at a much lower level - which has "dramatically" improved the inside of the church.
Canon Ian Day, vicar of St Margaret's, said: "We are delighted with how the new lighting improves the interior of this beautiful church. It makes such a difference.
"We’re already getting lots of positive feedback both from members of the congregation and visitors to the church.”
The Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron will visit St Margaret’s on Sunday, April 8 to formally re-open the church along with a recent extension to the churchyard. The public are welcome to attend this event.
The major project follows the installation of a new digital organ for the church. John Liddon-Few will takeover as full-time organist at the church from Easter Sunday.
