Run Fat Boy Run (15)

IF you've ever seen Spaced you will already know that Simon Pegg is a legend. Nearly every film he's put his name to has been fantastic and happily this one does not disappoint.
We join Dennis Doyle (Pe
gg) as he is about to marry Libby (Thandie Newton), his pregnant fiancée, but in a blind panic he ends up doing a runner instead - leaving her crying at the alter alone.
Fast forward five years and it's slowly dawning on him that he's become a bit of a loser since that fateful day and he sets out to win Libby back, but there's one problem - rich, American, go-getter Whit (Hank Azaria), aka Libby's new boyfriend.
In an effort to prove his worth, Pegg somehow ends up vowing to take part in a marathon - even though he's less fit than Jade Goody - which puts his apartment, love life and friendship on the line.
Forget the fact that in real life Pegg could never get a woman as gorgeous as Newton and enjoy this rom-com that is, although predictable at times, a heartwarming tale and one that is sure to make you chuckle and smile all the way from start to finish.
Although not quite a comic masterpiece in the same way that Hot Fuzz was, Run Fat Boy Run is a typically underdog-does-good story that we Brits excel at making.

7/10
