I rate Ratatouille!
Tesco Ruthin DVD of the week
Ratatouille (U)
THESE days it seems that every kids' film is made on a computer in Toy Story style so it was with a heavy heart that I accepted Ratatouille for review swayed only by Richard in Tesco's promise that this really is going to be the "release of the year".
I sat down expecting very little from Pixar's latest animated adventure, but I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised.
The story follows Remy the rat who, unlike his fellow rodents, has an unexplained love of food and is desperate to create some culinary delights.
Forced to leave their country home, he and his colony are driven towards Paris but Remy gets separated from them and ends up at a restaurant where he befriends hopeless cook Linguini. Together they hatch a plan to allow Remy to cook and Linguini to keep his job.
There are loads of jokes packed in for the adults as well as more obvious ones for kids.
After a while I soon forgot that this was even animation and just sat back to enjoy what this was - an innocent comedy that anyone can laugh at.
This two disc edition comes with a whole host of featurettes, deleted scenes and character profiles.
7.5/10
