LLANGOLLEN 236
LLANDUDNO 3RDS 100
(Llangollen won 10-0)
A TOP-FIVE finish in Division Four is guaranteed for Llangollen after a maximum points haul on Saturday.
The Dee Valley side proved to be far too strong for nine-man Llandudno 3rds to contend with, finishing up as winners by a sizeable 136 runs.
Llangollen skipper Tom King called correctly at the toss and elected to make first use of the batting strip.
There were plenty of good knocks throughout the home side’s line-up, most notably from James Adamson (51), Craig Boyle (46) and Owen Cornford (41).
Good efforts were also compiled by Geraint Wyn Jones (27), Bryn Sheppard (23) and Tom King (14), all of which helped Llangollen reach 236 all out in the 45th over.
Top bowler for Llandudno was Steve Cheung, with 4-58.
In reply, Llandudno never seriously threatened to win the game, despite the best efforts of opener and skipper Joe Lambe (50 not out).
Adamson completed a fine all-round performance to claim 3-17 with the ball, while Llangollen’s chief destroyer was Craig Boyle (4-53).
Meanwhile, St Asaph 2nds are still in danger of relegation after being well beaten at Division Three high-flyers Connah’s Quay.
A fine innings of 65 from Adam El Lamie proved to be the highlight as the nine-man Saints made 141 all out batting first.
Quay wasted little time and they needed just 14.2 overs to reach a winning 144-0.
Clive Popplewell (65 not out) and Luke Bennett (61 not out) were the stars.
