BRILLIANT Llannefydd have continued their march in a regional competition by grabbing a notable triumph.

The villagers were faced with a monumental task to make progress in the Mawddach Challenge Cup over the weekend, with Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One title favourites Llangefni Town their visitors.

In their charge for the title this season, Llangefni have conceded only 11 goals in 15 league matches.

However, Division Two outfit Llannefydd managed to pierce this defence twice in the space of two minutes on their way to a stunning success.

Llannefydd took the lead after half-an-hour when striker Sam Jones found the target.

The villagers then doubled their lead in the 32nd minute as experienced campaigner Owain Roberts scored from the spot.
