CEFN 7

CAERWYS 0

A MAGNIFICENT seven had continued Cefn's amazing fightback.

Seemingly down-and-out after being docked 12 points earlier this season, Alun "Junior" Owen's in-form charges moved back to within six points of top spot when they saw off Caerwys 7-0 last Wednesday in a rearranged Summer League encounter.

This was Cefn's ninth victory on the bounce and it was also their sixth clean sheet of a perfect campaign to date.

The bulk of the damage was done in the second period and only a solitary goal separated the teams at the interval.

This was netted by Rhys Johnson three minutes shy of the break.

Cefn doubled their tally five minutes after the restart when the prolific Jake Walker added to his impressive tally.

That was that until a goal-den closing 20 minutes for the home side, which saw them find the target on a further five occasions.

Sam Benbow made it 3-0 in the 70th minute and this was followed eight minutes later by Walker's second strike of the evening.

Walker then completed his fourth hat-trick of the season with five minutes remaining.

Rhys Johnson scored his second of the evening to make it 6-0 in the 88th minute and it was left to that man Walker to conclude the scoring with his fourth goal of the contest in the last minute.
