CORWEN 125
CARMEL 157-8
A HALF-CENTURY from Nathan Aldridge wasn't enough to make it a victorious weekend for Corwen.
The War Memorial Park side played host to Carmel in their latest spot of North Wales Cricket League Division Two action and it was the Flintshire visitors who eventually prevailed by a margin of 32 runs.
Carmel were successful during the pre-match toss and they elected to bat first.
They would bat out their 45 overs, reaching a competitive 157-8.
Openers Dafydd Bailey (44) and Daniel Owens (27) set the ball rolling in fine fashion for the visiting side, before both of them were dismissed by Simon Harrison (3-27).
Further decent efforts were supplied by the likes of Gwion Dafydd (27), Derek Johnson (16 not out) and Rohit Kaimal (13).
Scott Kearns grabbed 2-26 for the hosts, while Nathan Aldridge picked up 1-16.
Aldridge was the mainstay of the innings when it was Corwen's turn to reply after tea.
He top scored with 58 batting at number three, well backed up by Simon Harrison (18 not out) and Kamran Hassan (16).
However, four-wicket returns from Michael Harrison and Rohit Kaimal turned out to be crucial as the home side were bowled out for 125 at the end of the 44th over.
