RUTHIN 144

BUCKLEY 189-8

A BELOW par performance meant that it was a losing weekend from Ruthin's perspective.

The Saturday visitors to Memorial Park Fields were Buckley, who were able to secure a 45-run margin of victory during the course of the contest.

Buckley batted first and they managed to post a respectable 189-8 off their 45 overs.

Number three batsman Sam Evans top scored for the visitors with 61 and skipper Joel Sampson hit 46 at the top of the order.

There were a few other minor contributions, but Ruthin would have fancied their chances of reaching the target.

Dafydd Roberts (3-20) was the home side's chief wicket grabber, while there was a wicket apiece for Harry Pooler, Matt Duckworth, Josh Duckworth and Sandeep Anantharaman.

After tea, Ruthin openers Dafydd Roberts and Mike Parton carried on from the previous week and they seemed to be cruising at one stage.

Parton was eventually caught for 30 and when Roberts went the same way for 53, nobody else was able to make a big contribution.

Wickets fell at regular intervals and it was left to Harry Pooler (19) and Josh Duckworth (17) to ensure Ruthin got a third point out of the match.

For Buckley, Samuel Edwards took out Ruthin's top order to finish up with a fine 5-21 return from his seven overs.
