RUTHIN TOWN 4

LLANGEFNI TOWN 4

AN epic friendly encounter in a village setting ended up with honours being shared.

Rhewl was the setting on Saturday afternoon for a pre-season friendly clash between Huws Gray Alliance Ruthin Town and Llangefni Town, who went close to claiming the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance League Division One title last season.

Both sides had a two-goal advantage over the course of the exciting friendly, but the final whistle arrived with the scoreline at 4-4.

Looking for an upset, Llangefni began in the best possible manner by going into a 2-0 lead.

Their goals were supplied by Craig Roberts and Alan Mark inside the opening half-an-hour.

Chris Williams' hosts will have been keen to reduce the deficit ahead of the interval and with two minutes of the first half left to play, Tom Williams found the target to make it 2-1.

Ruthin found an extra gear during the second half and they appeared to have victory in the bag when they went 4-2 in front.

Ruthin were level once more nine minutes after the restart when Ryan Jones scored from the penalty spot.

The home side then took the lead for the first time with 21 minutes left to play courtesy of a goal from Garmon Hafal.

It looked to be game over with a quarter-of-an-hour left to play as Ryan Jones grabbed his second goal of the afternoon.

Llangefni had other ideas, though, and two goals in the space of four minutes late on saw them draw level once again.

Both of these were netted by Alan Mark, who finished up with a hat-trick.
