CORWEN 3

FC QUEENS PARK 0

MISERLY Corwen still haven't conceded a Wrexham Area League Premier Division goal this season.

Danny Jellicoe's outfit made it three wins from three matches courtesy of a comfortable 3-0 Friday night success at home to FC Queens Park.

The first chance of the game came in the seventh minute.

Corwen’s Joe Williams got through on goal, where he was challenged by Queens Park keeper Joey Jones, who was able to win the ball.

A few minutes later and Scott Evans played a corner into the Queens Park box, which was headed over the bar by Ryan Billington.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 25th minute.

A pin-point cross was played into the Queens Park penalty area and Joe Williams' diving header went into the back of the net.

Enjoying this purple patch, the home side doubled their advantage just three minutes later thanks to a well-worked goal.

From Scott Evans' long free kick forward, Ryan Billington ghosted into space and headed it beyond a stranded Joey Jones for his fourth goal in three games.

It could have been 3-0 in the 31st minute, however Joey Jones was able to pull off a great save from Joe Williams.

The visitors were shouting for a penalty after Richie Jones went to the ground, however referee Arthur Smallman waved away their claims.

Soon after, a snapshot from the edge of the box by Levi Roberts brought Corwen keeper Dylan Jones into the action for the first time five minutes before the break and he comfortably saved.

It looked as if the away side were going to halve the deficit 10 minutes after the break.

James Gregory rose above Jak Newell to get on the end of a cross, but the ball curled agonisingly wide of the post.

Gregory turned provider when he crossed the ball towards Aled Powell, but the midfielder’s attempted overhead kick went over the top.

A minute later and Ioz Jones ran at the Queens Park defence before poking his effort marginally wide of the post.

Queens Park's Corey Smart tried his luck with a free kick, which curled over the bar, while Joe Williams showed his strength at the other end when jostling with Matty Williams on the edge of the box.

Corwen’s Williams won the battle, but the striker could only flick a shot narrowly wide of the target.

Williams was in the thick of the action again when Corwen were awarded a free kick 30 yards from goal.

He got the set piece up and over the wall, but Joe Jones was able to pull off a great fingertip save to deny the Corwen number nine.

It was game over when Corwen went 3-0 up in the 76th minute.

Ioz Jones' shot from the edge of the box curled into the corner of the net.

There were no further goals as Corwen collected a well-deserved three points to make it a magnificent seven wins in a row against Queens Park.
