BALA TOWN 2

CEFN DRUIDS 1

HENRY Jones' brilliant 94th minute winner sealed a vital weekend win for Bala Town.

Eager to bounce back after their disaster at Barry six days earlier, the Lakesiders delivered the perfect reaction on Friday night with an impressive win over Cefn Druids.

Like the previous weekend, Bala burst out of the blocks and they could have been ahead after only four minutes.

Steven Tames pounced on a mistake at the back by Druids and went one-on-one with Jones in goal, but he fired into the side netting.

Bala did eventually take the lead after nine minutes.

A break down the right released Tames into the box.

The forward skipped beyond a defender and the keeper, however with the chance looking to have gone, he managed to curl the ball towards the far post from an extremely tight angle and it went into the net to make it 1-0.

Following this goal, Druids started to come back into things, with Davies looking lively up front.

At the other end, a Bala free kick was swung into the area, with Kieran Smith heading high over the bar, prior to Evans firing a free kick from a dangerous position straight into Town's defensive wall.

The hosts were running the show in midfield, with Danny Gosset and Rob Pearson working hard in the centre of the park.

Gosset found Tames, who pinged the ball out to Henry Jones on the wing and instinctively he struck the ball first time, which went inches over the bar with the keeper well beaten.

The second half saw the visitors hit back 12 minutes after the restart.

Naim Arsan picked up the ball unmarked on the left and he fired home into the top left hand side of the goal to bring play level.

Druids were growing in confidence, with Davies breaking free and letting fly over the crossbar as they looked to catch Town on the counter.

Even so, Bala should have regained the lead when Tames' pinpoint delivery was heading into the path of Mike Hayes, but the substitute missed the ball by inches and it went out of play.

In a further Bala chance, centre half Anthony Miley rattled the bar from Jones' free kick, before Henry Jones saw his diving header from seven yards out being palmed away by Druids' keeper Jones.

As four minutes of injury time was indicated, the nerves were jangling as both teams battled for the winner.

Bala continued to believe they could take the three points and Hayes set up Tames, who only had the keeper to beat, but Jones pulled off a strong and crucial save.

Cefn Druids weren't settling for a point either and they went down the other end, with Dean Rittenberg rattling the crossbar.

However, with seconds left to play, Bala went on the attack.

Stuart Jones laid the ball off to Henry Jones on the edge of the D.

In a pocket of space, the midfielder unleashed a rocket that dipped onto the bar and into the net to sealing a dramatic three points for the Lakesiders.

There was a definite improvement once more from Town, who looked very strong in midfield and their determined nature earned all three points.
