ST ASAPH 153

BANGOR 157-4

IT was a tale of two cities at Elwy Grove Park over the weekend.

St Asaph played host to Bangor in their latest North Wales Cricket League Premier Division encounter and it was the side from Gwynedd who came out on top.

The Saints opted to bat first after winning the toss, but this didn't turn out to be the greatest of decisions.

A number of batsmen made decent starts to their innings, but nobody was able to go on and contribute match-winning efforts.

Opener Nathanael Scott was St Asaph's top scorer during the early portion of the afternoon with his knock of 37.

There were also good efforts supplied from the direction of Mike Thompson (20), Danny Ryan (19), Ben Murphy (16) and Jason Foulkes (14).

St Asaph also benefited from the 28 extras that were conceded by their opponents and they were eventually bowled out for 153 in the 41st over.

Chris Dawson (4-37) and Nadeem Rehman (3-9) were the pick of the visiting bowlers.

After tea, Bangor eased their way to a winning 157-4 in the 33rd over.

Rehman completed a man of the match performance by hitting 46 during the successful chase.

Also catching the eye from Bangor's perspective were Idrees Ijaz (34) and Sohaib Khan (26).

Danny Ryan (2-34), Elliot Morris (1-26) and Mathew Ryan (1-32) ensured St Asaph picked up a couple of league points.
