DENBIGH TOWN U-13s 1

PRESTATYN ATHLETIC 2

THERE was a novel experience for Denbigh Town U-13s to contend with over the weekend.

After going unbeaten through the whole of last season's league campaign, Denbigh will be disappointed to have kicked off this campaign with a 2-1 home defeat against Prestatyn Athletic.

In what was an evenly contested first half, it was Denbigh who took the lead when Kofi Halliday scored with a fine shot.

Denbigh were then unable to convert further chances to double their lead and they were made to pay when Athletic equalised before the interval.

The second half saw Denbigh lack the cutting edge to take control of the game and they paid the price when the visitors scored what proved to be a winning goal, albeit with some good fortune following a Denbigh clearance.

Denbigh's man of the match was Rio Slater, who was solid at the heart of the defence.
