DENBIGH Development remain bottom of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One standings after a 4-1 defeat at Rhuddlan Town Reserves.

The struggling side were unable to build on a positive first period that saw them go in level at the break, and it was the home side that drew first blood when Ryan Anderson finished well after a period of early pressure on 11 minutes.

This was met by a swift response from the visitors, who got back on level terms almost immediately following the restart courtesy of an Ashley Andrews strike with 14 on the clock.

The second period saw the hosts completely dominate proceedings from the outset, with Anderson getting them back in front with a well-taken goal a minute after the restart.

Andrews was a constant thorn in the Denbigh side during an outstanding individual display, and he took full advantage of another chance after 49 minutes to complete his hat-trick.

The away side’s misery was compounded on 78 minutes when Callum Knight found the target to round off the scoring, and the result leaves the basement dwellers with one point from their opening eight contests ahead of their JT (Charlie) Jones Presidents Cup first round clash at Rhuddlan Town’s first string on Saturday.
