DENBIGH Town will be looking to avoid a banana skin when they welcome Holyhead Town to Central Park in the JD Welsh Cup first round.

Matthew Jones and Dewi Llion’s men have enjoyed a recent resurgence of late after a difficult start to the season, and they will need to be at their best to emerge victorious against the free-scoring Harbourmen, who booked their place in the hat with victory over Llanberis and boast a formidable front line in the form of Asa Thomas and Gari Jo Owen.

Ruthin Town will go on their travels to Welsh National League outfit Coedpoeth United, and Daniel Brewerton’s St Asaph City were rewarded for their fine qualifying round victory over Barmouth and Dyffryn United with a trip to Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One rivals Llandudno Albion.

Danny Jellicoe and Tom Mutton’s Corwen side have been handed a daunting visit to Holyhead Hotspur.

Perhaps the tie of the round comes at Y Morfa, where Conwy Borough welcome Huws Gray Alliance rivals Rhyl, with second-tier leaders Airbus Broughton travelling to Penycae.

Bangor City boss Craig Harrison will be aiming for further success in the competition and they begin at home to Mold Alexandra, with giant-killers Llandudno Amateurs will be going in search of a further shock when they host Nantlle Vale.
