RUTHIN TOWN 1
LLANRHAEADR YM 2
AN eighth goal of the season from Llyr Morris failed to secure a victory for Ruthin Town.
Instead, a battling rearguard action proved vital to Llanrhaeadr YM's fifth Huws Gray Alliance success of the season.
The result aside, this was a good performance by Ruthin on a wet pitch, which stood up well.
The home side controlled most of the proceedings and they demonstrated a really good passing game, which was resisted by a well organised Llanrhaeadr defence.
Although Ruthin enjoyed the bulk of the possession, it was the visitors who headed into the break in front.
Osian Davies' unfortunate own goal put Llanrhaeadr in front five minutes before the break.
The second half continued in similar fashion to the first period, with Ruthin seeing the bulk of the ball.
They were back on level terms on the hour when Llyr Morris scored from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box.
Ruthin’s joy was short-lived, though, and Llanrhaeadr regained the lead via Tom Bailey.
Town dominated the remainder of the match and they were unlucky when Ryan Jones' free kick hammered against the crossbar.
The woodwork came to the visitors' rescue once more with five minutes left and this time it denied Osian Davies.
