VICTORY over the weekend could have effectively safeguarded Ruthin's Division Two status.
As it turned out, there was no fourth win in five North Wales Cricket League matches to celebrate as Ruthin fell to defeat in a crucial relegation tussle at Caernarfon.
Batting first, Ruthin found themselves all out for 128.
Josh Duckworth top scored with 28, while a number of other batsmen enjoyed decent starts to their innings.
Caernarfon replied with 130 for four to bolster their own hopes of beating the drop.
Gary Leadbitter (50) top scored.
